2020 Sunhak Peace Prize Laureate - Munib A. Younan

Former chairman of the Lutheran World Federation, Bishop Munib A. Younan became the 2020 Sunhak Peace Prize laureate for his outstanding work in interfaith activities between Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.   Born as a Palestinian refugee in 1950, he grew up in Jerusalem where many religions intertwined, and dreamed of a peaceful world where there are no religious conflicts.   Although a Christian leader, he maintained good relationships with other Muslim and Jewish leaders. He has initiated the Council of Religious Institutions of the Holy Land, and has implemented different projects to realize interfaith harmony.

The words of the Senegalese president were reported Wednesday evening in a statement following the awarding of the grand prize to President Macky Sall in the 2019 Medays Forum. “Africa is vast: more than 30 million ㎢! It is rich in water resources, land, mining and energy,” noted the Senegalese president before continuing: "It is rather the unequal exchange and unfair world order that contribute to impoverish it by curbing its development efforts." We remember the day when the historic Paris Agreement was adopted  on December 12, 2015.  But the reality is that the Earth we are living on is  only getting hotter and hotter. The 2020 Sunhak Peace Prize laureate Ban Ki-moon,  former UN Secretary-General has said,  "We don't have plan B, because we don't have planet B."  Earth is the only planet we have lived, are living, and will live in the future!
