MBC NEWSTODAY Inaugural Sunhak Peace Prize 2015 dual laureates

The first Sunhak Peace Prize Laureates are announced in Washington D.C., United States The laureates are President of Kiribati Anote Tong and Dr. Modadugu Vijay Gupta who have made significant contributions to the challenge of ‘climate change’ and ‘food crisis’.

President Anote Tong has been raising public awareness toward global warming of rising sea levels to the international community and has been mentioned as a man worthy to take on the Nobel Peace Prize.

Indian biologist Dr. Gupta has devoted his efforts to developing innovative aquaculture methods to solve the food crisis and is known as a saint of the South and Southeast Asian poor.

Sunhak Peace Prize is established by the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon and his wife Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon and honors individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to peace.

The prize money is the highest amount for a single award in Korea.
The award ceremony will be held in Seoul on August 28.
